Your value isn’t on social media. It doesn’t matter how many followers you have or how much engagement you have on this app. It’s monopoly fame. It’s the game of life on an app.
Your value is in who God says you are. If you’re too caught up on here, get off.
Social media is the breeding ground for the fear of man/praise of man.
As a mother, your advice to your children would be for them to become all that God created and intended them to be. You would tell them to hold fast, to stay strong, to not bend to what others want them to be or tell them to be or to become a cookie cutter image of someone else for popularities sake. No, you would tell them to go against the grain and become someone incredible and unique to the design of their Maker because as their mama, you can already see their greatness and potential. So why on earth do we bend and become what other people want us to be on an app on our phone? We’re told to produce more content that other people (mostly strangers) will like so that more people will click and like what we share and if it’s not liked enough, change our “content” to be more of what people want to see. What if instead we hold fast to who we actually are and what we actually believe and then not take ourselves so seriously and trust God with the results, whether gain or not? What if we cared more about growth in our relationship with Jesus over growth on an app? Do we give more time growing with Him or growing on here?
The only thing that truly lasts is the eternality of our souls. Our greatest pursuit should be our relationship with our Creator and living boldly in whatever He calls us to do.
Don’t believe the lies that your value is found on any app online. Your value is in who God says you are. And who you are was worth Him dying for.
In light of eternity, live out the greatest commandments: Love God and love others.
Mother Theresa said it beautifully: “if you want to change the world, go home and love your family.”
“Jesus replied: ’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’” Matthew 22:37
